Would anyone have any idea why this would be happening? A car generally shouldn't just stall out after starting up. After I try it a second time it has always kept running just fine. Is this an indication of some underlying problem with my car?

These things have sensors so that your car doesn't get screwed up or run too long. If you have the manual, check to see what gets monitored, and check the wiring. Something is probably loose or corroded. Probably nothing major, as you don't say there is a problem with normal key starting, and it works by remote on the second try.

Does it do it normally if you don't use the remote? Could be bad wiring.
