If your car is in the USA, all cars sold since model year 1975 (as I recall) have a catalytic converter.

Almost all cars sold in the past 20-25 years have fuel injection too.

The "warning light" might be something as simple as a bad gas cap. It costs very little to find out what it going wrong.

I'm wondering how you can guess "loose connection" but then don't know enough to answer your question about fuel injection and catalytic converter?

All modern cars have a catalytic converter and depending on what year, fuel injection or carb. Just need to know what to look for or how to read the VIN number.

Your car will have a CAT Convertor, it will alos be fuel injected with it being a 306. With regards to the warning light, it might be the Oxygen Sensor.
