first thing to check - is your coolant fully topped up - low level of coolant can mean no hot water getting to the heater matrix - you may have a blocked heater matrix therefore you may need to flush system - when you turn the knob from cold to hot do you feel any change in temperature? If nothing then the valve to let hot water into the heater matrix needs replacing or freeing up. Good luck

Do the basic check first, coolant level before trying the rest:
If the coolant level is fine locate the thermostat for the heater matrix (usually around the engine block) this thermostat stops water entering the heater matrix until the engine has reached it's operating temperature. Take the 'stat' out and place it in a clear jug of boiling water and see if the thing opens, it should open more or less instantly. If it doesn't then replace it and all will be fine!
If that doesn't work maybe the heater connection to change from hot to cold is broken. Being an R plate it maybe mechanical or electrical. If it's mechanical I doubt there is anything wrong with it. If it's electrical check any wiring and there will be an electrical valve or solenoid or something like that near the heater matrix that may be broken.

does the temp gauge get up to normal running temp, if not renew the thermostat. Does the blower work O.K. Is the coolant bottle full, if the antifreeze has recently been renewed you may have an air lock in the heater and the system in need of bleeding.
