i'm trying to swap my ecu w/ the same match numbers but i'm scared bec. it might introduce new faults to my car,is it true that since 1995 the majority of ECUs carry an identification/immobiliser code.?

Hi there,
You don't give car age or type, more recently car manufacturers have tied ecu's into security and will mean that if the ecu is not programmed to accept a certain key it will not start and security will lock out and will not start till it is programmed to accept key info.
Older cars, if the ecu part no: is the same you could transfer without any problems but not so easy nowadays.

You don't give type of car or age. You can swap ecu, but may well (on a newer car) need to get it reprogrammed by a dealer before the car will run at all

call the dealership w/ the ecu intorduction number and they will tell you if it will work or not, don't hesitate to call the dealerships
