Then it stops. Is there a special lube I can put in the spark plug holes to break up the supposed ring of rust that is stopping it?

Sounds like you need to submit some Magic Mystery Oil (Get it at NAPA) in to each spark plug hole and I mean a lot. Crank it back and fourth for about 5 minutes then add some more MMO and let it set over night. I should turn over with out sticking in the morning. Then you should be okay.

If rust is stopping your engine turning you are in trouble but I think it unlikely to be the case. Much more likely you have a valve stuck open or one or more cylinders has filled with water causing a hydraulic lock. Pull the valve cover(s), remove the plugs and try again. If you dont know what to look for get a mechanic to do this. There are no magiic potions to fix modern engines - beware the snake oil salesman!.

Put some engine oil, or transmission fluid into each cylinder. Engine oil will work well. Trans fluid has more detergents in it it would be your best choice. I would not recommend putting any other non automotive junk in it.

Put a table spoon, or little more oil / trans fluid in each plug hole let it sit for a couple of hours. Put a little more in when you get back and try to crank the engine over by hand.

I have the easiest way and it will only take about 30 minutes! Go to Vegas, sit at the roulette table, put 5000 on black (or red). Let it ride 7 times in a row and not only will you have 640000 you will have surpassed your goal and it will take you a fraction of the time

are all of the spark plugs out cause if not the compression might be building up keeping you from turning the shaft by hand
