What do I have to replace? It also is not starting. I think it is because Chicago has had below zero weather for the past two days. The headlights go on and so does the radio, so I don't think its the battery...

The tire companies say they will not replace a 70 inch tire with a 60 inch tire and my mechanic friend says he does it all the time and never had a problem. What is the truth?

Bolt is hardened steel and regular vise grips don't work. Bolt is torqued down because it is for brake caliper.

Dodge Truck 1994 Two years ago i thought that the transmission was out well-It was not drove for 7 months -i drove it two more years. It started slowing down and stopped when i was almost home. A nice policeman came by and told me to put it in d1(automatic) and i make it home but then the other day i started it up and when it would not brfore it went backwards and forward It still makes a terriable noise but now i am wondering if it is something besides the transmission. Any ideas from a knowledgable person would be helpful.

I bought a used 97 subaru with clean carfax in great running condition in July 06. Inspection was due in September and took it to a local mechanic I never used before.
The mechanic recommended changing the timing belt (a good recommendation as the car has 140K miles on it). We agreed to this and all recommendations and $2000 later drove off a car which he said "would have no problems for a long while".
3 months later, 200 miles from home the engine makes funny noises, gets towed to a mechanic in Boston who finds that the 'tensioner' bolt has broken causing the timing belt to slip and internal engine damage estimated at $3000-5000 to fix. I think changing the timing belt involves at least looking over the tensioner (if not dis/reassembly of the area) so is damage directly related to the service the mechanic did for us and can we go to small claims for the damage if he won't fix it?
We have amex record but can't find the work order/receipt.
What chance do we have in small claims?
