2002 ford focus stn wagon Where is the rattle coming from?

There is an annoying rattle that sounds like the rear tailgate is loose but I can't find anything loose.

check to see if its your muffler. it could also be a loose hinge to a window, if it is not the gate.

One, those cars are not built that well, so it could just be the way it was put together. It could be your rear license plate, plastic fender wells or even exhaust.

did you check the tail pipe?you could have a hanger bad.
