This only happens when I turn on other power items, it has never caused a problem. Any Ideas? Ford ranger 1994, 6 cyc. 3.0, 5 speed

check fuses, it could be a short or oil pressure regulator.

You have a bad or missing ground wire between the engine and the frame. The battery and alternator are grounded to the engine, but everything else is grounded to the frame, so if you don't have a good connection between the two your electrical stuff goes crazy.

Just a guess.. but have you checked the terminals on the pressure sensor and made sure the sensor isn't corroded in the place it's fitted. (The latter could cause problems with the earthing/negative feed).

the gauge is being fed power from the electrical circuits from your lights. Might have it shorting somewhere.
