Craftsman makes a tool just for that purpose. I don't think you can buy just one, you have to buy the set. But they are worth the money and pay for themselves. I have a set myself. You have to get them Sears, or some place that sells craftsman tools.

there are tools at sears that will help on this. it is a socket with teeth. However they do not work all that well. if you have a propane torch. heat up the metal around the bolt and try the vise grips agian. but don't work on it all day. give it an hour and then take it to someone... they will drill it out and then retap (rethred) it.

I usually use an "easy out" after drilling 1/4 to 1/2 inch into the bolt.I think the proper name is screw and bolt extractors. They come in a set of different sizes and some include the drill bit.
Worst case is to drill it out and retap.
Tip: I always use six sided sockets and boxed end wrenches to prevent those nasty "round offs"

They make a socket set for removing bolts/nuts with rounded off corners. You can use it with a wrench or a socket. They are available at many places. I got my set at Sears.
