Pull a plug wire and put a Phillips screw diver in the socket and get someone to turn to engine over while holding the screwdriver close to something metal (on the truck). Watch for a spark. No spark is an ignition problem. Then make sure you have gas, and the fuel pump is working, (easier to do with a carburetor). If both of those check out you may have other problems like jump time. It's hard to diagnose a problem like yours without putting my hands on it. My brother had a similar problem, he burnt up a starter then call me. I went over and within a few minutes figured out that his gas had went bad. Good luck.

It is obviously not firing, or not getting gas. There are several things that can cause this.
There could be something wrong with the distributor.
It may be out of time.
Could be a bad firing module.
Could be distributor cap, or rotor button.
Could be the fuel pump.
Could be a problem with the computer.
Without the truck to look at you can guess all day and never figure out what is wrong.

Motor needs fuel and air in the right mixture, spark and in the right time. All the other people are right, but pull the plug and check for compression, could have a timing chain broke or other timing problem.Good Luck

check for spark, and then check the fuel supply. You may need to clean the injectors or rebuild the carb.
