Oil every now and then will come out from where the dipstick is. This time, not only did it come out, but it sprayed everywhere and obviously caused a lot of smoke! What could this be from? Could it be as simple as just needing a new dipstick? OR, is there too much pressure build up in the oil? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!

What steps need to be taken to force a manufacturer to recall a part/issue a warning when they have upgraded specs due to known material malfunctions? Repair shops receive backlash after they replace only the thermostat/seals and then that manifold goes. Upgraded metal replacement part has that thermostat & all seals. Consumer cost results in duplicate parts & labor $.

Hello I own a P Reg 1.6 i 16v escort with a zetec engine and I have a couple of queries. First of all the car is at 117000 miles and is running sweet. I had the timing belt and the fan belt changed when I first bought the vehicle and at the time the car had done 65000 miles I was told at the time that the timing belt does not need changing for another 80,000 miles however I have looked in a Haynes Manual and according to Haynes it will need changing after 60,000 miles. My question is which one is right 60,000 or 80,000? Also my next question is how often should I change my spark plug leads? I have been told every time I change my plugs is this right? As I change my plugs twice a year. Any help or advice that anyone can give me will me much appreciated

The truck had been sitting for 6 months and I just got it. I didnt check the coolant level (please dont call me an idiot, though probably I am). I dont see any oil in the coolant or anything in the oil. I checked the coolant again and it was fine. Do you think I should panic or just keep an eye on it. Someone at the autoparts store told me the Ford 2.9 V6 is notorious for cracked heads. I have no money and I need to drive this thing. Could the coolant have evaporated? No other problems running or driving. Engine was rebuilt 500 miles before I bought the truck.

P.S I commute 67 miles each way to work if that is a factor. I plan to run the hell out of this truck.

This is a 97 Chev Malibu. I thought most thermostats were by the radiator - why should it take 2 hours worth of labor plus the cost of the part to replace this? I remember older cars growing up that my Dad would pop a thermostat in within 15-20 minutes. I can't believe that even on the newer model cars that you could move a thermostat that much that it would be so damn hard to get to? Or is my mechanic full of crap?

I suspect the torque converter is going bad. The noise is not present in park or when the truck is in the air and in drive. The noise is greatest when starting from a stoped and subsides when overdrive is reached. The transmission shifts ok otherwise. The truck has 150+ miles on it. 4-6 eng.

Ok. I have a 2001 Ford Focus. At the begining of August I had a problem where my car would start jurking and not straightin up. The jurk was like it was having a seizure and it was so bad I had to have the car towed to the dealership. Come to find out it was the fuel system and there was a special recall on it so Ford completly replaced it at no charge. Now since the weather has gotten cold, mainly since Monday, I'll drive it for awhile and it'll jurk once or twice and stop and I'll go on driving more and it'll do it again and keep doing this. Could some condisation gotten in there and froze? Any ideas would help. Like I said its a brand new fuel syestem and in four months it shouldnt be bad...
