What steps need to be taken to force a manufacturer to recall a part/issue a warning when they have upgraded specs due to known material malfunctions? Repair shops receive backlash after they replace only the thermostat/seals and then that manifold goes. Upgraded metal replacement part has that thermostat & all seals. Consumer cost results in duplicate parts & labor $.

Dorman make a aftermarket replacement manifold for this engine that is very nice. The failure prone portion is cast aluminum instead of plastic. If you have to get this replaced, insist on using this part, not the factory unit.

The cops need a performance vehicle that has 4 doors and large trunk space and capable of mounting a lot of electronic gear. The Honda, uh, doesn't fit this requirement. Toyota's will break their coil springs, wear out brakes, and have you ever seen an officer who is 6 ft tall, weighs 175lbs, wearing kevlar vests, gun belts, try to negotiate his way out of a car designed by a Japanese midget? As for acceleration, have you ever tried to race a certified 140 MPH performance sedan? Check out youtube. The cop cars dominate 90% of normal cars on the road. The other 10% are heavily modified and cost tons to build. The Crown Vic are tuned (by computer program) to really move. Also, the "Mustang Cobra GT, which has 550 HP and 510 ft.-lbs. of torque" cant outrun a trained driver who has the CB on his side Other departments use the Dodge Charger with the Hemi. Most car guys will tell you that a rear wheel driving car will handle more predictably. There are some large city's that use the Chevy Impala, but wrong-wheel-drive gets screwy in a high speed chase.

because a recall is issued when there is a SAFETY defect.....besides if they replaced every plastic intake on 4.6 v-8's then they would be even further in the hole
