I'm sure you mean slowing down after reaching 50. You don't mention the year make and model, but I'm guessing a bad shift solenoid. You might even have a failing torque converter.
Get your transmission issues diagnosed at a reputable transmission shop.

Nothing. If it downshifted at that speed if would over rev and damage the motor.
