hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me on a problem I have with my car heater. It doesnt work effectivly and most of the time it takes a really long time to actually start blowing heat. sometimes it feels like its not even blowing heat, but just cold air. I have a 1998 nissan maxima. What might be some possible problems?

It looks as if its in mint condition, all stock, slow on start up, but that may be because it was cold. is there anything that i should be expecting to replace anything in the near future.

Basically, my mom took her car to a mechanic we've been going to for years. For quite some time now we've been getting the impression that we were getting a raw deal. This time he flat out did not fix the car. He said what (in his opinion) was wrong with it, ordered the parts, and charged my mom for the works. Case in point, it did not fix the problem at all. Not one bit.

She took it to another place, and they found the true problem. They were able to fix it for half the price of what the faulty-mechanic did.

When confronted, the faulty mechanic apologized and expressed feeling badly for not fixing the car, but did not offer any sort of compensation.

Would we be justified in pursuing legal action? Small-claims court perhaps?

I had a new timing belt put on prior to this but has never had any power since. I had the engine totally overhauled about a year ago and it ran fine but since I replaced the timingbelt it hasn't ran right sence. there is no power at all. I replaced the PCV valve but still get oil back in the breather area from breather to fuel injector. The engine shuts off real fast like its to tight and there is oil that drips on the floor, uses about a half quart every 30 or 40 miles. There is blue smoke that comes out periodically but not all the time. There is a small water leak on the floor, could this be from the water pump leaking on the timing belt ,and cause the timing belt to jump time.Sometime it is hard to start when you turn it off so I let run to get back home. Have put new plugs and coil wire in it. What could be my problem. THANKS

In regard to the gauge that measures batter charge, what does it mean when the needle points in one direction or the other. It's been real cold out lately, and the needle has been far into the positive charge.

i feel a bad shake in my 93 318i steering wheel, im not sure what is causing it. could worn rack and pinion gears be it? are they supposed to be lubricated by the power steering fluid? i have leaky power steering. it is not caused by, alignment, balance, bent wheels, or lower control arm bushings. it might be a brake problem but not the rotors there fine. alllthough the alighnment guy said that without camber adjustment plates in the strut towers he cant dial it in perfect cause of aftermarket tokyo suspention. when i pick the car up i cant get the wheels to shake much more than a little bit, the only movement was in the lower control arm bushings. so i replaced those and no dice. can those bushings be pressed in wrong? the problem only happens from like 30 to 50 mph and its pretty severe as it speeds up. maybe a messed up driveshaft or driveshaft u joint. if you can tell me some ways to test things to eliminate. i would love to talk directly at 603-642-8124, ill call you right back.

I had a remote car started installed on my 97 Ford Taurus. After the car is started up and I go to get in it there's still snow and ice on the windows and the air blowing inside is cold. I have to drive the car for awhile before it warms up. Does anybody have any ideas as to what this might be? I've been told it might be anti-freeze or a thermostat. I took it back to the shop that installed the remote and they said that there's nothing wrong on their part.

New oil and filter, PCV is good, brand new breather, oil pressure steady, no oil in the antifreeze (so it is not head gasket), definately not coming from anywhere else, but when I drive it, it REALLY leaks like crazy. It is coming from the very top, not where the tube goes into the block. I would really appreciate any advice- I am so stumped.

I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty and it has been 6000 miles per oil change and only darkened its oil. but I have a 98 Honda Civic that has been consistently going dry at about 4000miles per oil change. Why is this, do the seals leak or is there potentially another problem (warped piston, etc...)

I have a 02 Grand Am. I notcie oil on the ground this morning and check to see where is it coming from. I looked under the hood and saw it coming out from the rubber valve cover that hold the engine top plate n bottom plate together. I don't see any antifreeze leak just oil. My car is running fine. No over heating, no burning or funny smells, and no heavy smoke coming out the tale pipe. My question: Do u think it's just a wore out valve cover or a broken head gasket? If a gasket, would oil leak from the engine and more than one place?

I have a 99 grand am and it has nothing but water in the radiator. I went to start it this morning and let it run for 20min, when I went to leave the temp gauge was in the red. Could this be caused by just having water in the radiator? Would a flush and refill wil antifreeze fix the problem? Or could it be something worse?
