Ford Taurus wont go into drive but it will go in reverse, what are some possible reasons for this?

transmission is bad. if all foreward gears are gone, the bands are broken. rebuild or replace the transmission.

Your foward clutches in your transmission are bad. Which will require an overhual of the transmission. You should have had warning signs, like slipping, neutraling out on shift, etc.....

The transmission is bad and a very expensive to fix. Slipping, gear hunting, cannot maintain on high gear are usually the signs.

the linkage needs adjusted.try puttin the gear shift in low and work your way back to drive and see if it goes in that way.
