Anytime you "BUFF" on glass , it removes the evenness of it and becomes distorted depending on what is used and how long you buff it.

I have done this for customers before and they always come back for replacement stating that it gives them headaches to look through when driving.

I've got the same problem, right across the driver caused by the wiper, theres products out there to 'buff' out the scratches. Also theres a tonnes of companies who will fix this problem. Dont know how much that will cost though or if its legal still afterwards.

That stuff works on plastic--not good for glass.
