Why would that sound to you like an Oxygen sensor? On what basis do you make that diagnosis? There is no drivability complaint like one would expect with a failed sensor (running too rich or lean). The light doesn't stay on all the time which also doesn't suggest an Oxygen Sensor fault (hard code). You don't even know what code(s) are in the PCM and there are up to ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED (1,700) or so to chose from! Only a handful relate to O2 sensors. Even if it were an O2 sensor, this car has 2. Which one?
If anything, the fact that it seems to happen in relation to refueling suggests an EVAP system fault, but again, we don't have enough data.
To answer the question, we first need to know what the question is. Without knowing what triggered the check engine light - and a code should be stored even if the light is off - we can not provide an answer.
Get the code checked, either by having some parts store goon pull it with a generic code reader or a real mechanic with a real diagnostic scanner. Then come back with the results.

i own a repair shop, and these cars have a sensor that if the gas cap isn't on tight that it will trigger the light,,you have to really tighten the cap down on them good,i think that's what has happened to yours this time,,you can take it by any auto zone and they can scan it for free, and tell you if it has any problems, and they can also erase the light, for you ,and if it comes back on you know you have something else wrong with it,,but they do this for free and this way you,ll know ,but id say that's it ,,it should be OK ,,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.
