Maintenance & Repairs - December 2006

I have a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon GT with a 6 speed manual trans. At 27000 miles the factory clutch went. The service department at Fayetville NC Hyundai told me "thats seems to be pritty commen around 30000 miles." & "it's (the clutch) concidderd a fare ware item and not covered under warrienty" The estimate was $1900 to fix.
I put in a high performance clutch and pressure plate at a local trans shop for $1400. Now the clutch is gone agian at 31000 miles (4000 on new clutch).
I am a tractor trailer owner and get 750,000 miles on my big truck clutches so I know it's not me with bad clutching habits.

Have a 1994 Mercury Sable with a 3.8. Just did head gaskets. Now the check engine light is on. Changed the O2 sensors. Did disconnected the battery. Light is still on. Fuel tank is low did add injector cleaner to the tank. Have no scanner. Any clue?

Could this be a bad Thermostat...I also am losing Antifreeze.
Could this be a Head gasket?..bad radiator...there is abviously pressure buildup?.

My dad is going to fix it, he always fixes his own stuff, but im wondering about how much it would cost for the parts, ect. he said if we wait to long we would have to buy a new disc break or something, it started making a grinding like sound today and then i drove straight back to my parents house. does anyone have any experience with that or any mechanics. thanks

My automatic 97 Sunfire GT 2.4L has several issues.

When I start the car, if I get out and listen, I can hear the engine running inconsistently.
When idle [in drive] the car will sometimes shake from the engine running inconsistently..
When shifting from D to R, the car usually makes a pop noise [seems to be coming from transmission].
When driving, the car will occasionally make this popping noise several times while the engine seems to have a good bit of trouble..accelerating will usually stop this.

I just got an oil change recently. I checked the air filter today. I've tried various fuel additives...which possibly solved a problem I had with the car stalling out when trying to go from a stop [at a light, etc.].

When I am driving my car makes a whining noise. It only does it when the tires are moving. Also when I push my brake it makes a different kind of noise. Could these be connected.

what causes a 1996 transmission (e4od) to exit overdrive at highway speeds and the speedometer either pegs out at 85 or it will go the otherway or stay at other eroneous speeds then it will bounce back to normal and overdrive resumes ....all at 55 mph or other highway speeds.... this happens frequently...this one has got me stumped any ideas on this one?

Check engine light came on today while driving at unusually high speed 85-90 on the highway. This is a 2000 Dodge Neon

Codes are P1684 Metering Oil Pump Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction ( but another list says it's means the battery has been disconnected in the last 50 starts so I'm not sure) and P0743 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Electrical. My quick lube place said my battery tested at 350 amps when it should be 550 new. I put it off since it's been starting fine and in doesn't get very cold in Florida. How serious are these codes? Should I change the battery and see? Can anyone conform that these are the right codes interpretations?

I just started a new job and don't have the money for a big repair. Thanks

I just changed it at 99,000 miles.. the guy said the old fluid looked all burnt... Did I shorten the life of my transmission by not changing it sooner and how long should I expect the tranny to last on this car?

What is the best conditioning(and best smelling) car leather care product available? I want to retain that fresh leather smell in my ride. I've heard of Lexol, Zymol, Meguiars, etc. Can't choose. I hear Zymol really keeps that new leather smell. Any ideas? Thanks!

I went thru a carwash and I guess the pressure was to much, I now notice I have water settled in the bottom of my foglight, it still works, instead of paying over $200 for a new one is there a way to take it a part and empty the water out and put back together.
