The dipstick seems a little sticky when i check the oil, the coolant has a leak somewhere, but the oil has never shown any sign of the "milkshake" look associated with coolant and oil mixing, so i dont think its that, should i flush the engine and whats the best stuff to use, im not using diesel fuel, and whats the best oil, ive been using castrol 5w or 10w-30, earlier i changed the oil and used castrol syntec blend 5w-30, which i will be using in my car next oil change

And can anything besides the clutch be damaged by driving with it? I have a 2003 Chevy S-10 with a 5 speed manual tranny. Apparently the throwout bearing is going bad causing some fun noises. I'm wondering how long I should expect to be able to drive with it and what am I risking by doing so?

I priced an oil pan and gasket at a couple of my local auto parts stores at a range of anywhere from $125 to $150. A local garage owner tried to say the job would cost me $475.00 with parts and labour. I know labour costs run high in some places in the USA, but not in this area I'm talking about. I also realise this is a messy job most mechanics really wouldn't want to get into if they had the choice, but his quote and the price I found for the parts alone make up a big difference. We're talking almost $350 in labour the way I figure it, unless of course there are more parts needed that I didn't count. Then again, could this guy be trying to hose me? Thanks!

Is there a way to test and see if it is the water pump that causes the car heater to blow hot air one time and then, next time it blows cold air? We flushed the heater core and did other tests, so we do not believe it is the heater core. We left the radiator cap off and ran the car (ford thunderbird..'94) for 20 minutes and watched the antifreeze level come up, but doesn't go down, not circulating. We cannot afford to go to another garage. None of them seem to know what to do anywyas and we keep paying people to fix the heater and it is not fixed. We have put two new thremostats in car, too, figuring that maybe the first one may have been faulty, but should we try that again?

My rx7 is a 91. It needs a good amount of body work, window switch, paint (already have), rear wheel bearings. The output shaft leaks, even after being replaced. That tells me that the driveshaft is worn from the seal, and needs replacement also. 2nd gear synchronizers are going. Increasing the horsepower further from the RX7 is going to mean adding a turbo, not cost effective.

The 300ZX is a 87. It probably has its own list of hidden problems that wont surface untill its put on a lift/ driven a thousand miles. The body work is being done right now (rear fender wells, trunk) by the current owner. Engine is "replaced with one with 45k miles (long block)". No leaks other than from where the fenders were missing. Documented maintainance, new brakes etc. I still need to test drive & jack it up to check bearings/ball joints.

My budget is $1500, the cost of the 300ZX. I'll try to go down to $1300 because I'll still have to do body work to make it perfect.
What do you think, 7 or 300ZX

I have a '94 Saturn SC1 140k miles. I've given the car a full tune-up ( plugs, wires, PCV valve, Air filters, oils). The car runs well at idle around 800 RPMs but If I try and take the car out of park to place it in Reverse or Drive, step on the brake pedal, the RPM's drop and the engine stalls. Any suggestions...????

It regains third, and less often fourth gears after I stop, put it in park, and then resart the ignition. It only has 52k and is in fairly good mechanical shape. Is there an electronic component I could replace, ie. Transmission Control Module, or transaxle relay? I have had AT's gone bad in other cars and those cases involved slipping and engine racing, but the dodge has electronic controlled shifting, I believe, and the problem seems to be with the AT's shifting only. Also, could it cause damage if I continue to drive it?
