No, you need premium just like the owner's manual says. You might get by in a pinch with mid-grade, but performance and economy will suffer. The cost per mile is actually lower on premium as you will get noticeably better mileage with it.

Yes you can. Modern cars are computer controlled. If you are told to use premium, you can still use regular or midgrade. The only problem is that you will lose about 10% horsepower.

yes, modern engine controls compensate through spark knock sensors............extended use could allow carbon buildup, I would run premium on occasion
