when the engine warms up and after 30 minutes i start smelling burning antifreeze coming out of the vents. Then when I want to turn the heater on, all this smoke from the antifreeze blows out and fogs the windows. I have replaced my heater core 2 times almost exactly a year apart in december. I havent had the antifreeze hit the floorboards yet, but i'm sure its a matter of time.

the engine powers a wood splitter. it is mounted on a trailer. on/off gas shut off valve was left on. i suspect, bouncing wjile driving down the road caused float to move up and down. flooded carb with gas. gas drained into crankcase. is this a likely diagnosis?

what else could it be?

A red light came on the dashboard of my 1997 Toyota Camry LE. The light is on the far right below the RPM meter. The light looks like a windshield with dashes coming out of it through the top. I don't have a manual and was wondering if anyone might know what this light means?

Our 2000 Honda Civic was stolen 3 days ago. KBB is $8000. We just went to check it out. The following things are gone: the entire front of the vehicle was stripped. There is not one piece of metal meaning no hood, bumper, fender, grill, side wheel cover things). However, the engine and mechanical pieces seem to be intact (this is just visual inspection). There are no headlights and there appears to no longer be any headlight wiring.
The steering column and ignition are busted. The drivers side window was taken and our stereo was taken. They took the black plastic pieces on the bottom of the vehicle that are attached to the doors. They began to unwire our side mirrors and took all the speaker covers and damaged the door panel. The inside of the trunk is ruined. When stealing the spare tire and jack they just ripped up the floor and broke the carboard piece and carpet piece--it smells bad. It also looks like they tried removing the bumper--it may be bent? How much damage in dollars?

i have a 94 sentra with about 75k on it. lately, when i am driving for a while, it starts to shake a lot and the radio fades in and out. no static, just gets really quiet and then back to original volume. i noticed that when the shaking begins, the lights in the dash flicker. and the other day when the key is in the "start" position WITHOUT cranking the engine, i don't even have enough power to wind up the window. now the engine has to be started to draw enough power to wind the windows up. i have had to jumpstart it twice in three days. i got a brand new battery on nov. 10th BEFORE this issue even started. the alternator is fine. and the battery can hold the charge. (i can restart right after the boost). my dad says it may be a loose ground wire? any thoughts?? thanks in advance.

I have 02 Caravan, can get warning light off by removing battery cable for a minute, but light comes back on after a few miles. Diagnosed as small emissions leak, have tried gas cap, no luck. Where can I look for emissions leak? Replace evaporative valve maybe. Don't want to spend big bucks on mechanic for simple problem, only a light, but it bugs me.

They pulled it up so hard I needed help getting it down. When I drove off I could smell burning breaks, so I took it back. They "fixed" it by cleaning the brake cable using high pressure water?? Any how I have SO MUCH play in the break now and it's starting to smell of burning breaks again...BESIDES taking it to a mechanic do you think it's as simple as replacing the emergency break line? Has this happen to anyone before?? Thanks for any suggestions...

my 98 ford is acting up. please help. You start it up and the rpms go up like normal, then they come down pass 1 and the engine dies. It will start right back up again, but then the same thing happens. I tested the battery its fine. The guy said it shouldn't be the alternator since it starts back up. Any ideas?????

I'm thinking about lowering the supension on my Audi.

I'm wondering, why bother? Apart from the obvious cosmetic benifits, are there any others? I mean, does it reduce wind drag and reduce fuel consumption? What real benifits are there?

Also - and this is one for the mechanically minded - how do you do it? Can it be done using the existing springs etc or do you need to replace these with special types? Is this something that the generally mechanically minded person can do?

All SENSIBLE answers greatly appreceated!

Cheers, Sam

I have an '03 PT Cruiser. When I drive I can hear and feel a grinding/rubbing noise. The faster I go, the faster the noise gets. Also when I turn the noise and rubbing almost goes away. It happened to me a while back and they said it was cuz I had a bubble on my tire which they replaced and it went away. Now it's back and louder than ever. I don't know if it's a coincidence but it started up again once the temp. outside got below freezing. Any clues to what this might be? Thanks.

I have a '03 VW Beetle (I am the original owner) and it seems to be burning oil. I am told to get the oil changed every 5,000 miles by VW. Three times in the last year or so I have gone over that milage and each time I have been low on oil. Low to the point that nothing is even on the dipstick. The first two times vw wouldn't look at it because I hadn't been using them for my oil changes. So the last time (5,500 miles ago) when it happened I had them do the oil change. I have scheduled an appointment with them, but honestly I hate the service dept there, they seem useless.

So anyway, I just want to know, is it normal for a car that is 4 years old to be burning that much oil? And any vw owners with the same problem?
