my 98 ford is acting up. please help. You start it up and the rpms go up like normal, then they come down pass 1 and the engine dies. It will start right back up again, but then the same thing happens. I tested the battery its fine. The guy said it shouldn't be the alternator since it starts back up. Any ideas?????

Could be the IAC, but that's just a guess without actually seeing the problem.

Some of the 95-98 had a bad problem about the wiring harness falling apart on them, if that's your case sell it as fast as you can.
If not, you may have a mass air flow sensor clogging up or the element starting to burn out in it. I would suggest you take it and have codes pulled to steer you in the right direction.

Might be an ECU problem. I'd check the idle control valve/unit.
You may also have a lose vacuum hose.
Have you done anything to is before this started?
