Maintenance & Repairs - October 2006

Have a 92 olds, 88 royle, 128,000 miles. Friday he put in a refurbished starter cuz it wouldn't always start, had to keep cranking it. I get it back Friday, starts good now but now engine light says service engine soon & car stalls when I put it in park. He says he had nothing to do with that issue, but, ran a scan, says low exhaust, low A/C freeon/ & anti theft problem. What is making my car shut off intermitent? It sounds kinda rough like it wants to stall & he said I have a broken motor mount $130.00 to fix it. Also, just an FYI, I had 20.00 in my glove box, they took it but put 5.00 back in the glove box. He denided it.

I have coolant leaking from the back part engine of my 1998 chevy Tahoe. The leaking is a pretty steady drop when engine is hot. I am wondering what it may be. I don't think I have blown a head gasscat because the engine stays at the right temp. Heater works just fine also. What will it cost to fix?

I sold a used truck with no implied warranty, 30 miles down the road it started to run bad and turned out they had to pull the fuel tank. Now the have sent legal notice they expect me to pay for repairs?

There are 9 bolts in the cylinder head-and they have to be tightened to a specific torque, I can't find what the torque is from even the manufacturer, I guess if they don't get any money from you they don't want to help.

We put 3.4 in s-10 which was 2.8
Motor still wants to get hot( gots a new radiator , new 180 degree therm. , new water pump and new rad. cap).
What could be my problem.

I need to replace my engine and I am wondering what other cars can I pull an engine from? I would like to put in a used 4 cylinder. Does it have to be a truck or could I pull one from a Toyota Corrolla?

would it be cheaper to buy the parts myself say off ebay! and ask the garage to fit them. Or will it not make much difference. am completley broke so any suggestions would be good. would it be possible to do myself.

My boyfriend says his mechanic told him that leaving a CD in the player can drain his car battery. The mechanic said that is why his last battery needed to be replaced.
Has anyone heard of this or had it happen to them?

For some reason, it seems like when you lock the doors, open them and then try to start it, the alarm goes off and disables the ignition too so it wont start. It is extremely annoying not to mention inconvenient when I need to be somewhere. When I had the remote starter I could just press the unlock button a few times and that seemed to switch it off. I, of course, have lost it soo...I need to figure something else out. Can anyone help me with this. Something besides taking it to a garage..cant afford it right now. My brother is pretty handy with cars and might be able to follow someones directions on how to disable it. Thanks.

First, my coolant fan was running even when my car was off, so I unhooked the battery so it would not drain, but then it just stopped all together. Would this be the fan motor, electrial, or something else. Please help.

I have a 96 Jeep grand Cherokee... 4.0L 4x2 w/ the same problem w/ 202,000 miles. and it's been recently that i've been working through this problem for Ignition Coil #1. So far i've changed the Throttle Position Sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter, both Oxygen sensors, the engine wire harness, the PCM, and ignition coil, camshaft position sensor, crankshaft sensor, the rotor, distributor cap, ignition wires and spark plugs. I have totally run out of ideas. I have some of the diagnostic manuals for the GC and tried following the wiring schematics. There is a [B]grey/white[/B] wire that goes from the coil to the PCM, a [B]dark green/orange[/B] wire that goes from the PCM to the ASD relay, according to the schematics, these wires are linked to the Primary Coil#1 code. i could see how that could work out w/ just placing a wire directly from the Coil to the PCM, but i've replaced the engine wire harness so i cant imagine how i could have the same problem, pls help!!!

I've had my car for around 6 months, it was a year old ex-demo. Recently the brakes have started squeaking and also, when moving off, balancing the clutch with accelerator (especially when going up-hill) it lets out a loud squeal. Any ideas? It is a Toyota Yaris if you need to know! Thnx.

I had a 1995 buick skylark but the head cracked in 2 places. water pump or thermostast went out. Another head is being put on it. Should I keep it or buy the 98 ford taurus with 187000 miles on it.Skylark has 170000 miles on it. I heard even if the head is fixed they are never the same and constantly tear up after that

My headlights, interior light, and horn all went out at the same time. Then my car wouldn't start. And when it did you had to have your foot on the gas the whole time, even while braking. But the air conditioner blower worked. After replacing fuses, spark plugs, and jiggling a fusible link everything that was broke started working again, but the blower went out and my brake light is always on.

Any suggestions?

but apparently there has been a bulletin put out by GM about a noisy subframe and they are going to inject lock tight into the cradle to try and quiet it down some. Has anyone ever heard of doing this? They said that there are no cracks that they can see..
