First, my coolant fan was running even when my car was off, so I unhooked the battery so it would not drain, but then it just stopped all together. Would this be the fan motor, electrial, or something else. Please help.

After running the engine for a while, the fan will continue to run with the engine off until the coolant temp sensor tells it to stop.
Start the engine and turn on the air conditioner. If there is only one fan it should come on. If it doesn't check all the fuses, and in the underhood box look for an engine fan relay. If the fuse is not blown and you find a relay, many times there are other relays
that are the same. Horn relay, and fog light relays can be swapped out with the fan relay. If the fan comes on buy a new relay, if it don't the fan motor may be bad.

Start by insuring a full coolant level... and most likely the cause will be the sensor that activates the coolant fan or the connection to it....

Check the coolant fan relay.

Check out your fan clutch or the fan clutch relay. You may have shorted something out by disconnecting the battery.
