I have coolant leaking from the back part engine of my 1998 chevy Tahoe. The leaking is a pretty steady drop when engine is hot. I am wondering what it may be. I don't think I have blown a head gasscat because the engine stays at the right temp. Heater works just fine also. What will it cost to fix?

There is a heater hose connector on top of the intake right behide the alternator. They are bad to leak and even break off. When they leak the coolant can run along the top of the intake and run down the back of the engine. Other than that it could be intake gaskets, which are bad to leak also.

It could be leaking from a hose, or you may have blown a cap off. These are pretty cheap to fix if you do it youself. I just had it happen to me last month and it cost less than $10 for the part and my friend put it on for me, it took about ten mins. Try running some water thru it to see where it is leaking from.

Check heater hoses and freeze plugs. If i remember right there are 1 freeze plug at the back of the heads' It's worth a look.

If its not a heater hose, maybe its a freeze plug. Those are the only two things that I can think of on the back of the engine.

Sounds like a heater hose is leaking. Shouldnt be too bad to fix and relatively cheap.

I'll tell you how much I know. Last time I had that problem, it was a freeze plug that rusted through

Probably a freeze plug and if you do it yourself it will cost about $5.00 to fix.
