I need to replace my engine and I am wondering what other cars can I pull an engine from? I would like to put in a used 4 cylinder. Does it have to be a truck or could I pull one from a Toyota Corrolla?

These are the engines that were offered in your truck and will fit.

This is a link to Jasper engines.

Over on the right there's a black and red "find a price" link. You have to register, but it looks free. Jasper remanufactures engines and offers good warranties. I bought a 302 V8 and had it installed for an '88 Bronco. This is meant for you to take the truck back to stock. If you're looking for more, well....however much fabrication you're capable of is however big your engine could be. You could probably build a frame and suspension sturdy enough to hold a 572. I'd bet that a 350 would fit with minimal work though, and if you search for it, I guarantee that there's at least one '94 Toyota PU with a 350 in it.

Either way, Jasper would be a good place to start to find a 4-cylinder that will fit w/out the junk yard and someone else's problem.

13 year old truck which has fallen on hard times. WHY? would you expect another engine than the 22R to work in that truck. Spend 1,000 on the low mile used engine and another 1,000 to install it and another 500 for clutch. AND what do you have a 13 year old truck with 200,000 miles and rust poor paint bad interior. JUST CUT YOUR LOSSES.
Plenty of new 2006 Tacoma's at last years prices, New Nissan Frontiers, Chevy Colorado's

the 4 clylinder engine in that model (22RE) is a great engine, dont even think about putting in something else, you will regret it, you can put the 3.0 V6 in it but you need to change alot of other things. also you will never get your investment back when you sell it.

just rebuild the 22-re engine thats in it, if you can do it your self, it can be built for around 500 dollars. (I just built one last summer and theyre easy)
