You really should be asking a few local garages rather than Yahoo answers ?

Vauxhall Astra Clutch Replacement Cost

Hi there, first of all that price does actually seem reasonable, however i agree with the comments made about not knowing if the head needs skimming until the engine is in bits, a lot of times there is no need to skim the head even if it is aluminium alloy as most of them are, as long as the vehicle is dismantled when cold then warping can be avoided, you dont say that the engine was overheated so in that case i would ask them to dismantle engine and then using autodata measure the head its easy to do and only needs a set of feeler gauges and a straight edge, if they know what they are doing they will measure it and check against the manufacturers specifications, if its within tolerance it dont need skimming. What i would reccomend as your engine is known as an ecotec engine is that unless you have recently had a timing belt fitted i would reccomend that it was changed along with the tensioner and idler pulleys, this will cost about £100 for the genuine parts or about £60 for equally as good but none vauxhall parts, as they will have the engine dismantled it will only add about 30 mins work on to the job and so not make the bill larger Hope that advice helps

Kwik- Fit will give a fair price for this work, and will also do it by appointment, thus allowing you to either wait for it or do a little shopping then return to collect. You will find most garages will want your car for 2/3 days to allow them to fit you in and carry out the work at their leisure.

Should be around £200 depending on model, and take around 2/3 hours.

If your in the uk it is about £150 - £200 fitted ( this is in the north east). it is really easy to do the clutches on these cars and it only takes around 2 hours from start to finish .But prices do differ the futher south you are .

around 75 quid for clutch kit,and around about 1 and a half hours labour at anywhere from £15-£35 per hour labour charges,or else tell them where to go! these are really quick and easy to change, and any car mechanic worth their salt will tell you so!

a clutch kit without fitting will set you back around £75-80. fitting should take no longer than 4hours labour so it just really depends on the labour charge of the garage you are using. no more than 300 or your being knipped

An Astra mk4 is worth less than the price of a new clutch, bin it.
