But sometimes i hear that GM vehicles aren't good quality. But i know so many people who have chevys with over 250,000 miles on them, and they're still running fine. no major engine or tranny work either. whats going on here? i think GM is pretty good quality. ford is another story, but GM is good. Does anyone out there know of these super-vehicles with all these miles on them? no stupid answers please.

My car has a little bit of coolant and my air condition works for a little then blows out hot air. I looked in the coolant compartment and it was almost empty. I want to put more in but i read a container of coolant and it said to drain all coolant out first.

I have a little dent, and the paint has chipped off, but I don't want it too get any worse. The dent looks as though a tennis ball hit it, or someone opened their car door and Boom! What should I do?

I've cleaned the gas cap and made sure it fits properly, what else could be causing that? (I drive a 2000 wrangler, 4cyl. 5 speed - if that helps.)

How can I tell if I bent some valves in this engine? The timing chain slip and the engine went out of timing. Anyone know of a way to verify that I didn't bend any valves? All answers from serious mechanics will be appreciated. Thanks for all inputs guys.

The car has done this on and off for years. I was told by a mechanic at the dealership to press the breaks and jiggle the steering wheel to get the key to turn. This has worked in the past, but lately is not so efficient. Has anyone else had this kind of problem or any idea as to what the problem might be?

I recently purchased a used car. It sat for quite some time. The mechanic told me that the vibration could be flat spots. I've driven it a couple of a hundred miles and the problem persists. I've also had the tires balanced with no apparent improvement. The car doesn't drift and the steering wheel is centered. Could this still be an alignment issue?

I have to say- I'm kind of sick and tired of taking my car into the shop "EVERY WEEK" litterally for six months now. So- Last week- I've been just driving it around! I fixed everything the mechanic said was wrong! Is anyone else driving with it on too? Or is it tough luck with me?

i have 97 intrepid 3.5 liter. i've replaced rod bearings twice, and still they act as if there not getting oil, and it seems that valves may be sticking, due to lack of oil. I followed directions from haynes manual. this eng has been a nightmare. tho i'm no profesional mech., I'm confident i can fix this, just stumped and need help from a profesional, plz. i know rebuilding is only hope, but cant afford now. any way to get a few more miles out of it? I suspect eng main bearings may need to be replaced to restore eng oil pressure. according to what i have read. the eng. has enough pressure to make the oil light go off, and with the spark plugs removed, just cranking the eng. oil is pumped to the heads, noticed this when i primmed the pump before starting after first re-bearing. overheating caused the bearing to fail first time, am i missing something?

I don't want to buy another battery, but I have stripped the bolt hole on a side-post battery. Is there anything I can do/use to be able to tighten the cable to the battery?

I drive a 2001 Ford Focus LX Saloon, with a 1.6litre 16valve Zetec SE engine.

This is the first car I've owned thats had proper air conditioning, and now its got to the summer I'm starting to use it. Thing is, it doesnt seem to do very much at all. It doesnt seem any colder than having the ordinary fan on. On a hot day, it isnt until you've been driving for about 25mins that you actually get any cool air. Even then its not cold. So you have to have open windows instead.

Any ideas as to why this is? I've heard people talk about getting their air con 'charged'. What does this entail and would it help me? Is it an expensive proceedure?

Appreciate any help you can offer.
Cheers

...then goes into gear. This is a 2000 hyundai elantra (bought used, so no powertrain) and we just replaced the slave cylinder because it was hard to shift (impossible is more like it). I took the slippage test by putting in 3rd & from a stop, let out the clutch to see if it hesitated to die or not..It didn't hesitate. so now where does that leave me? what could be wrong.
