I have a 1997 Holden Vectra GL, shows check Engine light when i start. All fluid levels ok. any idea? I've been searching on the internet, and ppl seem to think its a faulty crank angle sensor. are there any other sensors which could be contributing? can i still drive this car with the engine light on for this reason?

I have a 1994 Chevy Caprice Classic. It's car that was driven in the North (Western N.Y.) I now have it here in Dallas, TX. The under side has quite a bit of rust. Does anyone know of a way to stop the rust and salavage an otherwise good vehicle. If you point me in the right direction, or suggest someone or business I can make connect with for further advise, that would be great.

The alternator has been changed several times and I don't know why the battery isn't charging. Any ideas on this would be very helpful.

It doesn't do it right away, but after we've run it for a while some kind of odorless fog starts coming out of the vents.

A family friend gave me a 1992 Chevrolet Corsica, 3.1 V6 engine....starts up smooth, but we were told had some problems with it. It's puffing out white smoke, and it shut off once on the way to the mechanic. Now, I have 182K miles on it...and I really need a car. Is it worth paying for whatever damage it might have? I know a little about cars and remember that whtie smoke has something to do with head gaskets....but is there any other potential cause (and no, it's DEFINATELY not cold where I am).

how would you compare a gasless Mig welder against a conventional one? ok, you save on bottled gas, but is the weld as strong? it's only for car bodywork. what have been your results? which should i buy on a small budget?

I took my van to the dealership and they did a 4 wheel alignment twice and the van still pulls right quite a bit. They said they've done all that they can do. Is there a reason why an alignment would fail twice? Could it be a bigger problem?

The under hood temperature in my '76 4x4 Chevy Van (G3500 small block 400 Turbo 350 automatic transmission) gets too high when I shut off the engine. Until I replaced the HEI with conventional ignition, the HEI would overheat and refuse to work until it cooled down, eventually frying completely (I got lucky and found an engineer who helped develop the original HEI and he clued me in on this problem).

Now, if the outside air gets above 85°F, when I have driven more than 10 minutes or so, shut the engine off, let it sit for over 5 minutes and under 20 minutes, the starter is so hot that it fails to crank enough to start the engine.

I have replaced the starter three times; I have replaced the ignition switch with a high capacity diesel push button; I have replaced both the battery cables.

I am considering louvering the hood and/or installing an electric fan (with a thermal switch powered even with the key off--the solution GM adopted in later models).

1988 F150 Ford Lariat Truck, New battery and alternator. Elec fuel inject. over 1/2 tank of gas. Cranks over after a few tries but dies out. When cranking it sounds like it wants to catch but just can't. Doesn't sound 'watery' or like low battery or anything. Any ideas? Could it be the fuel filter or something clogged? Kinda stuck on ideas. Any help would be awesome.

I have a 2002 Ram 1500 w/ a 360 auto (14 bolt pan). I all the sudden lost the speedometer along with the cruise. I replaced the Speed sensor on the left hand side of the transmission near the tailshaft. Nothing. I dont see any fuses for the cruise or speedometer, just relays. Anyone know what this might be? I know there is another sensor on the rearend but I think it has something to do with the ABS system. Thanks
