It doesn't do it right away, but after we've run it for a while some kind of odorless fog starts coming out of the vents.

It is condensation, water vapor. You may want to get it checked out, but it is probably nothing.

This is absolutely normal in a humid environment. It's basic physics. Cold air introduced into warm humid air causes the water vapor to condense, you see it as a mist. In a grander scale, it's called a rainstorm / thunderstorm. We don't get much snow in Texas. If the car is otherwise mechanically sound, don't worry about it. If it was steam from a leaky heater core, it would smell like antifreeze, and it would condense on your windshield, and the interior of your car would be uncomfortably warm and humid. If it is cool and dry, no worries. If it's an older vehicle and has not had the filters / condenser checked, it sure can't hurt to have it checked, but you are probably fine.

if it is cooling good, the fog you speak of may actually be like a cold mist,,this can happen if the air has been over charged,,my toyota did this,,and it would actually ice up the vents because it was too cold ,if your,s is cold and doing this it will go away on it,s own but if it,s not that cool,,then it may be icing up on the condenser,,causing it to do this, either way you may want to take it to get it checked out, hope this help,s some.

A friend of mine had that but it was antifreeze steem because the heater core was leaking, so he was breathing antifreeze all winter, now he has health problems.

Get it checked out by a mechanic.

He also couldn't smell the antifreeze, but we did.
