I have a 1994 Chevy Caprice Classic. It's car that was driven in the North (Western N.Y.) I now have it here in Dallas, TX. The under side has quite a bit of rust. Does anyone know of a way to stop the rust and salavage an otherwise good vehicle. If you point me in the right direction, or suggest someone or business I can make connect with for further advise, that would be great.

Man they make stuff called Rust Mort it kills rust and keeps it from spredding its made by SEM. Also Permetex makes a gel people call it naval jelly works the same as rust mort. my suggestion use this then apply a primer or paint to keep it from forming on other surfaces check for these products at your local advance auto parts

If the rust is compromising the structure of the sub-frame then the metal must be replaced. If the rust is just surface rust then use a high pressure washer with water. Let dry and then spray the area with LPS 3 or Fluid Film. These sprays do not harden and trap moisture. If the brake and fuel lines are flaking , they should be replaced, don't use the armored type(with the continuous spring wrap) These are rust traps.

First thing you need to do is scrap off all the scale and chip off the really deep rust spots. Then go down to a paints store, hardware store, or marina and get a gallon of Ospho. Ospho kills rust. Get a plastic spray bottle and spray the bejeebees out of it. After it dries, rinse it off and let it dry, (should be no problem in Dallas in the summer time.) Next, go down to a parts store and buy some cans of spray undercoating and go to town. Should cure your problem, and also quiet the ride, too.

rust may be removed with any light acid (muriatic) pool acid eg. After removing nuetraliz it with an alkalne mix (baking soda will do) allow to dry rinse with water dry again then brush on spray on a fish oil based primer followed by a typical undercoat. Someone mentioned sandblasting, true but sandblasting and acid dips require extensive work usually reserved for collectables etc.
