01 truck has on board diagnostics,(ODB2) just cause your check engine light isnt on, doesnt mean you dont have a trouble code, go somewhere that will scan your computor for free(autozone, parts store) then come back here with a trouble code, if no code then you have to check basics, (tune-up parts, fuel pressure, vacumn leaks)

hello people its a 2001 dont touch the timeing chain or belt ull just mess it all up, from what i sounds u have a bad fuel filter or a bad pump or maybe even some water in ur gas. or it could be ur spark plugs. do this change ur filter if it works great if not one night before going to bed unplug the battery this well erase the computer but try to have it unpluged for atleast 10 hrs. then drive it on the highway the next day dont let it warm up before u go just start and go. go for about 50 to 100 miles at 55-65 mph this will do a drive ciycle witch will test all sensors on the car. if something major is wrong with the engine or sensor ur engine light should come on. try useing 89 octane in it for a while but if u can try 91 octane it will help clean the engine and injectors. i hope this helps
