1974 Chev 350, standard points ignition. Heads, intake, and carb replaced recently. Old heads were 1.94 intakes & 76cc chambers. New heads 2.02 with 64cc chambers. Old Comp. ratio --8.5 to 1 Now 9.5 to 1. Stock cam retained. Valves are adjusted properly, motor is timed @ 8*BTDC, dwell@ 29*. Carb is adjusted correctly. No vacuum leaks. Car misses at light throttle coasting down the street at about 30mph. Also misses at higher speeds. It's not a dead miss from one cylinder. What am I overlooking???

Please read carefully:
I have an engine, and a body. I know how big the engine is, what crank size and bore and heads. WITHOUT tearing the engine down, how can another person figure out what's in it? (without guessing.)

I know this sounds funny or stupid, but here it goes. You know those head set that people who are directing the airplanes or working in construction wear to block the loud noise. Does any one know what they are called? Because I am looking for something similar to buy. I live in apartment with young siblings and it is very noisy for me to study. I can’t pay attention. I can’t go to a quit room and the library is very far away. I think that is the only thing that can help me. So, PLEASE, does anyone know what they are called and which brand or what ever is the best on blocking the noise?

I was driving on the freeway going about 65mph when suddenly my car, I guess, lost power and dropped down to like 30mph..I couldn't go any faster than that even though I tried. I was able to get off the freeway and get it home driving at about 25mph. The next day I tried to drive it to friends house (who is a mechanic) and it overheated..It turned out there is a hole in the hose and antifreeze was leaking (quite a bit). Anyway, my question is, is the drop in speed associated with the radiator problem? or should I be looking for other possible problems?

All of sudden trany would not shift out of first to second unless got rolling down hill fast enough then would shift to second but acted like in neutral if let off gas (coasting). Then next time drove it, is shifting and running fine but with I think, a bit of noise. I was ready to haul it to the shop for rebuild but am wondering now if maybe there is a module or adjustment that could be going out or something?

A week ago Sunday I had a new engine put in my Saturn (well its not a NEW engine, but new to my car). I hear there are proper ways and improper ways to break it in, does anyone have suggestions?

My car just got a new engine put in it, and for the past week I have noticed every now and then when I stop (at a light or in traffic) and then push on the gas again smoke will come out the exhust. *It doesnt do it everytime but enough to make me wonder, this didnt happen before.

Also the car twice has felt shaky like it was going to stall when I reached a red light.....

Anyone know what this could be?

* I know I need to take it in to the shop but I am trying to figure out what it could be before I take it in.... is it a simple fix or something crucial? Could it be related to the new engine? Someone mentioned the distributor cap or spark plugs, does this sound like it could be that?

The engine is out of a BMW Z4 and it gets 24mpg in the city and about 28mpg on the highway. I would like at least 30 mpg in city.
