Please read carefully:
I have an engine, and a body. I know how big the engine is, what crank size and bore and heads. WITHOUT tearing the engine down, how can another person figure out what's in it? (without guessing.)

i know what this engine is because i built it. How can SOMEONE ELSE figure out what i have without tearing it down?

Well, if it's a GM V8 motor than one could tell the displacement rating by looking at the size of the Crank Balancer/Dampner.

the area of the bore x the stroke x the number of cylinders = cubic inches.

4" bore 3"stroke 8 cylinders = 301 cubic inches

on the righthand front of the engine block at the base of the head is a set of numbers , take them to someone that has a book and ,it will tell you what year and horsepower you have!
