I know this sounds funny or stupid, but here it goes. You know those head set that people who are directing the airplanes or working in construction wear to block the loud noise. Does any one know what they are called? Because I am looking for something similar to buy. I live in apartment with young siblings and it is very noisy for me to study. I can’t pay attention. I can’t go to a quit room and the library is very far away. I think that is the only thing that can help me. So, PLEASE, does anyone know what they are called and which brand or what ever is the best on blocking the noise?

I did buy the rubber or the foamed earplugs, but they don't work for me. I need something that is wireless, good quality headset type, and cheap. So, can someone help me? If you can give name and where to find it that would be very helpful. Thanks A LOT for your answers.

Ear plugs might work and they are really cheap.

sound dampers?!?!? just get some earplugs. they're cheap. some are foam, and some are rubber. the rubber ones hurt my ear canals. you can get your earphone-type and ear plugs at a sporting goods store in the guns section.

try ear plugs. they actually sell them at the drugstore (like Walgreens) and are not very expensive. They are a foam type that you roll between your fingers and insert into your ear. the foam expands and "presto"! things are quiet.

I used to use them at the factory where I work. they are great.

There are lots of options. I teach kids who need special circumstances for testing and we use special tools like these. Here is a sample website:
