I have a 1999 Vovo S80 with 250,000 Km.Brought it in for Transmission Filter & Oil change.Techs showed me Oil pan with large pieces of clutch material in it.
Car was road tested everything still seems to be working fine.
Suggested tranny rebuild for approx. $1000.
How common is it to find such material in pan?

I'm 28 yrs. old, female, and I live in Canada. I just got my driver's license, I am very excited. I would really like to understand the basics of cars, what needs to be looked after in a car, what needs to be done on cars yearly to keep them at top shape, that kind of thing. I would appreciate any suggestions. I have tried to find books but can't seem to find a basic knowledge book.

Need to change the coil on a Ford Ka but there appears to be two parts available, one for early 1998 and one for Sept 98 onwards. Any tips for working out which one this is, when it was registered just after the time of the change? The engine number seems to be hidden out of view.

My bf and I spent alot of money to get our car fixed that we bought a month ago, a cheap car, but we put in new gaskets, heads, and some other stuff. It still however needs a new set of spark plugs and something with the power steering. But my question is, he was outside tonight working on the doors of the car, the wiring is all messed up, he was trying to rewire them since they were crossed wired, and fix the radio. He was out there for about three hours and started the car about 3 times maybe within that time. And when we tried to leave to go to the store, the car made this horrible clicking kind of noise and the lights in the cabin dimmed and flickered. Also the battery thing reads -8 he said. So is it just the battery that is run down right now then?

Will a jump start fix the problem and let the battery recharge while driving it after the jumpstart? Sorry I don't know much about cars, but we did spend almost more fixing it then we did paying for it.

93Tempo-seems like either brakes or emergency brake just sticks on and them I smell burning something and smoke will come out from one of my wheels! What can I do for a fast cheap fix or how do I determine if it's brakes or the emergency brake? Will cutting the emer. brake solve the problem?

I bought a wrangler second hand and the past owner didnt take care of the fender flares. They have white spots on them and looks like bleaching. I've tried armor all but it helps everything except the white. Is there anything that will make it uniform?

I learned about mechanics working on cars... i am now about to gradute with a BS in Mechanical Engineering... i am offended by the use and general concept that people who work on cars are "grease monkeys"... these days most people can't even check the oil in their car... am i justified in this?

Consulting the owners' manual was the FIRST thing I tried. These map lights are two hemispherical (directional) fixtures imbedded in the overhead console (which I also can't see how to remove). They have flush lenses that can't be pried off. This question is intended for those who already know how to change THIS bulb in THIS vehicle. ~Thanks~
