How old is the belt? (Obviously) Cracks, etc. Is it harder to press your fingernail into the material than a new belt? It's always best to ere on the side of caution in this case. You wanna get caught out there with a useless truck? And check the owner's manual. When does Chrysler recommenf belt replacement?

If the antifreeze leaked on the belts it may cause them to fail. I have had this happen. It cost me dearly. I ended up having the car towed to the garage $75, belt $65, Labor $95, antifreeze $35. You see the patten here. Well now I keep and extra belt in my trunk all the time. Replace the belt. Keep the old one for a spare to get you off the road in case your belt fails. You only need it until you can pass a parts store for a new one. The Price of a belt and dirty hands is cheep compared to the garage visit.

It is a good rule to have when you remove a part from an engine to replace any rubber parts removed as with belts and hoses. Don't wait until it breaks, because when it breaks it will cost you at least $65 or more if other parts were damaged when it broke. Get it done while its off and do yourself some good, be happy just do it. Good luck and GOD Bless,

Jackie

If its not cracked or frayed I would re-use it. Those 7 ribbed serp belts are about 50 bucks! Thet are also easy to change using only a box wrench. I would save the belt, and spend the money to replace the by-pass hose that runs under the AC compressor. If you did that, great if not it could be trouble later.

If the belt is not cracked, it's still good. Belts today last longer that years ago.
