At about 30k+ miles, now out of warrenty because of age, it has stalled 3 times in as many months while preparing to turn. The service light comes on but the dealer does not find a code. Upon occasion, engine will stall after starting acting like it can't keep the idle up (no service light). The engine is at operating temperature. Always dealer serviced and I think it began after dealer cleaned injectors.

I recently replaced the left CV Axle, outer tie-rods and both lower ball joints. I am still getting a growling sound from my front end. It is more noticable when I am decelerating, but it is there at all speeds. What do you think it could be? One "mechanic" told me it was the power steering unit, but I was leary of his answer when he told me that the cast outer tie rods were bent. (They are cast metal and are offset.)

@ 14,000 miles my brakes were squealing.
Took it in for service and was told that my Front Brakes needed to be replaced and that the rotors were a little bit damaged but I could get away with just changing the pads.

Now at 17, 000 miles I am told that my Rear brakes need to be changed. The service manager said that the pads probably only have 2,000 miles left and that the Rotors are burnt from Canyon driving. . . (???)
Said I need to replace both for $450.
and that its all normal wear and tear and not covered under warranty.

I have only had the car for a little over 1 year.
How can I be having all these brake issues already?
and with no coverage under warranty?

Am I being ripped off?

thanks

After 2 years of owning a Ford (my first and last) am I wrong in my opinion of Ford? Check this link. Read some of the problems. If you read them all it will take a lot of your time. Just read the first few and realize that they are all pretty much the same. Then tell me why I'm wrong in my opinion.

Our 1998 Tdi is running very poorly. Particularly under acceleration, but also during normal driving it hesitates under acceleration. The amount of hestitation varies wildly - sometimes it seems to bog down and won't move, other times its more of a slight feeling of being underpowered. When the engine gets hot (say after 30mins of driving) it sometimes stalls when we stop the car.

What could the problem be please?

Under the hood, if you are standing in front of the vehicle and look at the engine oil valve, the oil filter would be little toward you but to the left of oil valve. There is another valve that is to the right probably 3-4 inches from the Oil filter. The valve is half covered by the engine cover plastic and cant be opened until the plastic engine cover is removed, I need to know what is that valve for and what oil goes in it... Please help.

Does this work? I have a 2006 VW Golf TDI that takes FOREVER to warm up in anything colder then -15°C. My commute is 45 minutes one way on all highway driving (80 km/h). Some say thats the way diesels are, some say the thermostat could be stuck open. I don't know. I am looking for people who have a VW or know about them to help me with this. Carrying blankets and having the heated seats cranked sucks Thanks
