This truck is essentially a clone of the Ford Ranger of the same year. I would do a google search for that problem and use the Ranger name instead of the Mazda one. There have been tons of Rangers sold and I'm sure there has been someone with the same problem as yours that has figured it out.

Try disconnecting the distributor vac advance. There might be a bad wire that opens when the advance moves. If you can get it to rev up by pumping the gas, this is not the problem. Problem could be a plugged primary main jet in carb. Sometimes this can be corrected by stuffing rag down carb when running. This causes a large vacuum and sucks any crud through the jet. Works sometimes. Possible EGR problem. Sometimes they get an incorrect signal and go wide open resulting in a stall. Try disconnecting vac hose at EGR.

This truck is not a clone of a Ford Ranger. 94 and newer Mazda trucks are Ranger clones. One of the catalyst converters might be clogged on your truck. I assume your truck has a carburetor and is not the California fuel injected model. Could be a carb problem or the little white plastic fuel filter on the inner fender could be clogged. Just a few things you could check.
