You're in luck. Give me all your questions as I have all the answers. Actually BMW did not build a 325 between 1996-2000. The 3 series models available in 1997 was the 318i, ti, is & i convertible. The 328i, is & i convertible. Lastly the M3 coupe, sedan and convertible. The 328 has 190 BHP and a sedan & coupe 0-60 in 6.6 manual /7.2 automatic.

I had the 525SE with the 24 valve engine, this kicks out 192 bhp and 0-60 is about 7 seconds so 325 may be slightly faster.

Power to weight ratio. How many bhp per tonne not any of the ones you have chosen. A car with 200bhp weighing a tonne has 200 bhp per tonne and will be faster than one with 300 bhp weighing 4 tonnes which would be 75bhp per tonne Big engines are not always powerful 4 valves per cylinder is pretty normal and so most have 16 valves except for the odd few 3 cylinder cars which would thus have 12 valves. There are some cars around with two valve heads which thus make then 8v cars but they tend to be older economy designs

The 325i had 192 BHP and could hit 60 in 7.2 seconds if it was a manual. Autos were a bit slower and took 7.7 secs

However.

BMW stopped making the 325i in early 1995, so unlike everyone else I'm thinking that you have a 325tds (diesel) which WAS available in 1997. This car had 143BHP and could hit 60 in 10.1 seconds (or 10.5 for the auto).

bhp is the horse power and 0-60 is the time that takes the car to reach 0 to 60 miles per hour normally in seconds

It's about 200 brake horse power and does around 7 seconds on standing to 60mph. Hope this helps, & nice car though.
