okso heres the deal. When I start my car/truck (whatever you wanna call it) there is a knocking noise coming from under my hood. And dont go away until I start to drive. Then when i start to drive it fades away a bit to a kind of clicking that can barely be heard but goes with the speed i am driving. Then when i turn a sharp corner there is a rattling what could these be. It drives fine has no problem starting up just all these noises are comming. I took it into the repair shop today and they said they think its a bad or broken flywheel but dont know cause they are not a trans. shop and refeared me to one. I called them and he says by what i am describing that is not what it is. ANYONE!!!!! Please help. What would a broken or bad flywheel sound like if that was the case??? What could it be????

I have a 2003 Pathfinder. The mechanic discussed with me that there is some sort of hydraulic cam adjuster that is having trouble. I believe the cam basically rotates and has bumps on it that work a lever that open and closes the valves (affects timing of the opening and closing of valves). He said that this cam adjuster is hydraulically controlled by the oil in the car (use normal engine oil?). I also think he mentioned something about the cam adjuster controls the index, which I was interested in roughly how this works. It seems to affect the horsepower and perhaps the timing. Thanks for any insights and corrections in my understanding (autoshop was many years ago).

My window was up, I left my car unattended for about 20hrs, and when I walked up to my car it was down, never to come back up. nothing was stolen or touched.

my weatherstripping came off on half of the windshield, but I didnt have any water leaks. it just looks trashy so I bought the recommended glue and tried sealing the rubber but it looks AWFUL. the rubber lost its elasticity and so the top corner doesn't reach all the way over the window. that black glue got everywhere, all over the glass and some on my paint. the weatherstripping looks like its not even sealed all the way.

in other words, it looks redneck!!! I did clean the rubber before applying the glue, did everything the guy at the shop told me to do.

I'm about to get a new windshield installed if this can't be fixed in some other way..... I just don't have $200 to do this.

is it possible to have the windshield removed, get all the old weatherstripping stripped off, and get new weatherstripping back on and installed in my jeep? my windshield is in good condition so I don't need a new one.

what can I do??

We bought the pick up after we married, but due to his bad credit, the bank would not put it in his name, only mine. We are seperated, but not divorced, and he is drinking a lot. If he wrecks and hurts someone, am I liable?

Back in may of this year i filled out for what i believed to be a personal loan from eloans,i was approved and used the money to buy a car.About a month after having it,i ended up losing my job and had to go out and work for a moving company out of town most weeks for a few months.I ended up defaulting on the loan,and when ive had the chances to call to try to make payment plans with them to get caught up,ive been dissrespected and treated like an idiot.I go from one supervisor to the next.Noone seems to want to help me.Either way i got the title for the car about 1 month after i got the car.I recieved a clean title from New York State DMV saying it was my car and there wasn't a lien on it.Now I guess Citifinancial Auto bought the loan from eloans,they still wont make a payment arangement with me,and there trying to take the car.They had investigators come talk to me,and they were saying they're trying to find out whether or not im frauding the company,because im trying to sell the car

i had seen on History channel Dogfights TV show that during a fierce combat in air between an Egyptian MiG-21 bait that was trying to lure an israeli MirageIII into an ambush by 11 low flying Egyptian Mig-21s.
That during the Egyptian pilot's desperate escape he initiated a Split-S from 3000 Ft and it's supposed to perform such a manuever from 6000 ft, With a gaze of weird sheer luck, The Egyptian pilot barely managed to recover from it and went up engulfed in clouds of dust from the ground like a SAM Rocket, thats weirds, it was then tested by MiG-21s of israeli pilot over the Atlantic ocean in USA, they tried it perpetually but all in vain, they even used a calculator,,, All invain,, can you find a clue?

I haven't had my license thaaat long and I'm still trying to figure stuff out.

I was doing 65 today on a highway and the rain was pouring, I could barely see. There was already a lot of rain on the road and lots of puddles.

I started to notice that my car felt like it was gliding and the it kept going left and right, I steered a little bit but I didn't want to jerk the wheel. Luckily I was all alone on the road so I could move into different lanes without any harm.

So the car was going left and right at it's own discretion and I felt like I was gliding, so I stopped accelerating and didn't brake. After a while everything felt normal again.

Was I hydroplaning? I know what it is but I've never felt it before. I can't tell whether I was or not.

i have a 85 chevy c10, 305v8. 135,000 miles.
Its been really cold here lately and my truck is starting to smoke.
When I first start the truck in the morning I get the normal white smoke/condensation. Well after about 5 mins the white smoke/condensation goes away and it starts puffing alot of black smoke and the idle starts messing up. After about 10-15 good hard revs of the engine it goes away and the idle goes back to normal. It does this everytime I start it when its cold.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

The smoke smells real strong. And the odor stays on our skin and clothes.

Also the car is in great condition on the outside but about $1000 on repairs on the inside which I need to do. He was asking $11,000 for it and I said $8,000 out the door, So What should I do. He called back and said $8,600 out the door.

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra. My ABS light has been on for several days. I took it to the dealer and they said it will be $150 just to diagnose the problem, thats just to figure out the problem thats not to fix it. On top of that I will need to pay to fix it (weather its big or small). Still, I dont want to pay this much. I have checked the brake fluid level of the master cylinder, and thats ok. Next I am going to check the four sensors. I was wondering other than checking the sensors what else can I look for? Is there some sort of diagnostic tool I can buy to help figure this out and do it myself? What else can I check.??? By the way my brakes feel fine, I just want the light off! Thanks

I thought it was just a minor scratch, but after i got home, I checked it and it was more than just a scratch. Anyway someone reported me and now I have received a letter from their insurance company to pay for the damages. I just wanted to know, will this be the end of it or can they take this further, i.e. DVLA, points on the licence, criminal offence etc...

In California it's illeagal (Misdemeanor) for a dealer to sell a car that doesn't comply with Division 12 of the California Vehicle Code. Who inspects it to say that doesn't comply? It's not the DMV. Is it CHP? Who has the authority and where does it come from (ie Codes/Statutes, etc.)

I will do my best to make sure I pick a best answer.

Sometimes it will work in spurts of 15-20 minutes. I can't concretely determine a pattern for when it works, but extreme hot and cold weather seem to be part of it. 95% of the time it simply reads 0. All other gages work properly. The circuit board and LED display has been replaced once, and it worked properly after the replacement.
