It sounds silly, but one time it happened to my friend. It turned out there was a screw on the bottom of the pedal that would get stuck in the carpet, making it stick. Also, if its a cable clutch, you should be able to adjust it, while youre down there, check all the cableage and linkage and make sure its all good. If you dont find anything....its gonna be an internal problem and a real drag.

If it is just the pedal and not clutch its self you're getting some good answers it is binding in the linkage somewhere between the pedal and the actuator located on the firewall and sound funny or not it could be the pedal travel adjustment screw hanging on something in the in the floor board , nothing complicated or expensive to fix

Check the resorvoir for fluid and bleed the system at the slave cylinder. If it doesn't have air in the system then you might have clutch issues. Good luck

Check for binding at the floorboard, then check the spring. If you have a clutch fluid resovior, check that.

Take it in to a mechanic, and its probably just the spring. So good luck!
