i had seen on History channel Dogfights TV show that during a fierce combat in air between an Egyptian MiG-21 bait that was trying to lure an israeli MirageIII into an ambush by 11 low flying Egyptian Mig-21s.
That during the Egyptian pilot's desperate escape he initiated a Split-S from 3000 Ft and it's supposed to perform such a manuever from 6000 ft, With a gaze of weird sheer luck, The Egyptian pilot barely managed to recover from it and went up engulfed in clouds of dust from the ground like a SAM Rocket, thats weirds, it was then tested by MiG-21s of israeli pilot over the Atlantic ocean in USA, they tried it perpetually but all in vain, they even used a calculator,,, All invain,, can you find a clue?

You never know what someone/thing can do in the middle of combat. If I had a bad guy following me I would do EVERYTHING I could to get away, even taking some crazy risks. With all that adrenaline pumping, and massive luck he made it. Also, with these stories its hard to tell exactly how correct they are. I don't doubt it happened but maybe it was 4000 feet or something. Another factor would be the loading on the plane, aka how heavy it was and other factors we won't/can't know.

my 2 cents.

Other than hot air rises from the desert and MAY give the guy a wee bit more of a lift, no.

The problem is "density altitude". Desert air is thinner, but lower air is denser, so you have to calibrate all altitude calculations to that. The guy could have used airbrakes and/or flaps to slow way down to pull off the split S as well. Slower he is, the less altitude he needed to pull it off.
