my weatherstripping came off on half of the windshield, but I didnt have any water leaks. it just looks trashy so I bought the recommended glue and tried sealing the rubber but it looks AWFUL. the rubber lost its elasticity and so the top corner doesn't reach all the way over the window. that black glue got everywhere, all over the glass and some on my paint. the weatherstripping looks like its not even sealed all the way.

in other words, it looks redneck!!! I did clean the rubber before applying the glue, did everything the guy at the shop told me to do.

I'm about to get a new windshield installed if this can't be fixed in some other way..... I just don't have $200 to do this.

is it possible to have the windshield removed, get all the old weatherstripping stripped off, and get new weatherstripping back on and installed in my jeep? my windshield is in good condition so I don't need a new one.

what can I do??

An auto glass repair shop will attempt to remove your windshield, but will not be responsible if they break it. Be prepared to pay the price of a new one. If they can remove the windshield, yes, they can replace just the molding. It will depend on the make/model of the vehicle. Give them a call to check. Price should be about $50.00 on average.

Go to a local glass company and purchase a replacement installation kit. If you try and install yourself there is a 90% chance that you will not install the windshield correctly and end up with a stress crack the first bump you hit....Hence Big Expence

yes a glass place will come out and take the windshield out and reseal it properly or put new weatherstripping around it if thats the type of mounting you have, whatever it takes they can do it but it won't be free.

Yes, you can get the weatherstripping re-done. Any auto glass repair place can do it, and it doesn't take much time or cash at all.

Most windshield places can come out and just install new rubber.

If I remember correctly, the glass people break the window to remove it...
It is a safety issue, and insurance will pay it if you have comprehensive insurance.
