you cant put studs in tires, you have to buy tires with them already in. Chains are the only things I've ever heard of or seen...

You can buy a set of tire chains, but they are only for bad conditions or heavy snow. You would have to lower your speed and remove then as soon as the snow starts clearing away. They are noisy, but they will work fairly well.

You can also buy snow tires, these will give a good combintion of traction and wear on all the road conditions. Some of these tires, can have metal studs and are referred to as studded snow tires. A lot of states have made these illegal for street use, as they will tear up the asphalt roadway, so be sure to check before buying set.

I would suggest the unstudded snow tires and buying an extra set of rims to have them mounted on. That way when it snows, all you have to do is change the two rear tires, assuming that you have a rear whell drive car.

good luck.

If your tires are equipped, you can have them studded. Not all tires have the necessary ports though.

if you have all-season tires, most likely, they are not studdable. get yourself a cheap set of winter rims from a junkyard, and go get some winter tires. At the minimum, put a good set of winter tires on the drive-wheels.

Otherwise, opt to not drive in the snow.

You can always do the snow chain thing, but it's illegal to drive with snow chains on when it's not snowing. So you'll be putting them on and taking them off alot. And they have a reqputation for falling off, and when they do, they can cause ALOT of damage to the body of your car.

You get snow tires, and in the summer you change back to summer tires.

There are studs that you can put in tires, but I don't think you can put them in passenger tires.
