Texas Drivers licence question?

Okay, well first off im 19... I've had my permit for a few months now. my parents never really had the time to teach me how to drive or to take me to take me up to the DPS. I was just wondering, since im 19, have had a permit for several months, and I do know how to drive, would they be some what lenient. and how much does it cost? i feel like a loser because i was never able to obtain my licence at a younger age....

There are so many resources out there, but what's the most reliable to know what your used car is REALLY worth?

Kelly Blue Book? NADA? Edmunds? Galves? Parkers?

Our cars are usually well under typical mileage and in better than used condition. (We work from home, have no kids, and we only put about 6K-7K a year on our cars, and never use the back seat.) People who get in our car freak out and think we just bought it. We're in the South too (Atlanta) so there's no wear and tear from snow and salt.

E.g., our Honda 2003 CRV w/ 36000 on it, really clean... supposed trade-in is around $14,150, dealer retail $16,600. Should we expect $14,150 or even more?

Are we simply better off selling it on our own, or can we get a good deal for it as a trade-in because of its condition?

My bike has been sitting through the winter and it still starts up well, but it revs up to a medium rpm in the idle position. I have already checked the throttle, and nothing is getting stuck or binding up. Throttle moves smoothly, cleanly, and all the way open and closed again. Cable slack IS allowing it to close.

The inside of the carb looks VERY clean. There is NO fuel resin or gunk at all. Why would it rev up? This happened to my other bike as well, even after a good carb cleaning, so I think this is a common issue.

I dropped this rebuilt engine in this car, and the oil pressure has been up near eighty psi. Well today I went on a drive about eighty plus miles. The pressure went to around forty psi and twenty @ idle. OK, so maybe there is a by pass or something, and it is stuck open. Oh, wait, now I have a 'check oil' light on. So, I check the oil. It is full, the oil is only around eight hundred miles old. It is clean and smells like fresh oil does. I don't have any valve clatter, or overheating. Is it just a wire, bad sending unit, oil filter clogged?

We've been wanting to buy a new car for the past 6 months. We have a Honda CRV with just 30K miles on it and we can get really good money for it vs. the 6-months left on its 5-year loan. But we've been avoiding going to the car dealers because we know it's such a hassle.

We're smart buyers, we know all their tricks, and we even play good cop / bad cop as part of the negotiations (so they aren't the only ones playing games with their "let me check with my manager" and "we don't do this for everyone, but...." nonsense a la Mr. Lundegaard in Fargo).

But it's SUCH A HASSLE.

Why can't you just go to a dealer, all the people are paid F/T salaries, they show you the product, and either it sells itself or it doesn't. If it doesn't sell, the company knows they need to make a better product. That's it.

Ugh!

We're probably going to buy through CarMax just for this reason, but STILL we need to somehow test drive the ones we're thinking of getting. What a nighmare!
