I am a full time college student. I make about $1000 a month. I drive a paid for car...thats kind of falling apart. (My parents old family vehicle) its $150 a month in gasoline! I live at home because I am going to a local community college. I have no bills at all, except gasoline. My parents say as long as I am a fulll time student they will pay for car insurance. But if I buy my own car they will not pay for insurance because it will be to high on someone as young as me. I am debating on whether or not to buy a brandnew car? I have no credit so that is another factor. The car I am looking at is at the MOST $20, 000. What would be a good down payment? Should I just stick with my old beast, or buy something more efficent and have no spending money? Or would I still have spending money with the amount of money I make? Thanks for any ideas of suggestions you may have.

lately on my '69 beetle iv'e been having an annoying turn signal issue.
it happens when im driving at night, and have the normal lights on (low beams, running lights, tail/brake lights, dash etc). ill flip on the left or right turn signal, and the indicator in the speedometer flashes once or twice, then goes out. but when it does instead of it continually flashing the leftmost warning light flashes somewhat dimly instead, and the turn signals themselves on the outside continue flashing.
at first it only happened at night when i use all the available lights for normal night travel, but now its started up during the day.
so for starters its obvious its an electrical problem, and my best guess is that the battery itself is starting to become worn out. (it probably hasn't ever been changed) and not able to handle such a load of all those lights at once.
i know the basics of a car's electrical system, but not enough to diagnose my car correctly and find a fix for it. and it is a 12V. help?

I have never understood why some people want fast cars or break the speed limit. There just doesn't seem like theres a good reason to.
Just a couple of reasons I came up with:
-more than likely won't ever have an opportunity to take advantage of the performance of a fast car.
-illegal to drive excessively fast
-paying tickets
-traffic school
-dangerous
-potential roll-overs(if in an SUV or truck)

I ask because a local newspaper columnist that focuses on driving related issues in the bay area is declaring(not officially of course) a "drive the speed limit" day tomorrow.

Just curious as to what others think

Thanks!

Has 4 wires green light green purple and brown from the throttle. Green light green lead to a plug below the solenoid a blue from the hydralics go there to. The brown and purple are disconnected brown looks to be a ground dont no where they go. Theres two solenoids on motor on the opposite side of the plug in theres a green comes out and connects to the solenoid above the light green comes out red to the same solenoid and another red from that one that goes to the other solenoid and the blue goes to the other solenoid. Above the plug from that solenoid theres a big green where that connects from there to inside the tilt motor and another from inside motor to other solenoid. theres a black wire that connects one solenoid to other. A black connecting from top of motor to the other solenoid and the pos/neg from that solenoid to battery. Would the purple and brown be the power for the up and down theres also four other wires b.g.r.w the r.w. are connected to the battery. maybe clean conn.

I had the leather seat cover replaced in my 2007 Outback LL Bean after 5 months as the dye had really worn away and the surface cracked to the point that there was an actual hole in the seat. The new leather replacement (factory original, under warranty) is already showing similar wear after only THREE WEEKS. In this period, I have only put 400 (four hundred) miles on the car and I've only gotten in and out of the car about 60 (sixty) times. I am very careful about sitting down in the seat without sliding across it, especially after the first one developed a hole so quickly. I wear a smooth leather belt and I don't wear any crazy kind of abrasive or studded clothing. I have not even worn a jacket in the three weeks I've had my new seat. I don't understand why the seats have worn so quickly. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you have any suggestions for me?

(Yes, this is a duplicate of the same question I posted in the Subaru section, so you don't need to repeat...)

I think we need to prep our young kids to learn how to drive at a young age - this includes streets and highways. That way when they are older they are very familiar with driving and I think we as a country would see a signefacant drop in car crashes because people will be too familiar. I think people are driving when they turn 18 and get there lisence and immediatly start driving and are not familiar with what they are doing.

If we prep people at a very young age what it means to drive at 65mph then when they get older they will be knowledgable.

I honestly think 10 years old should be the new driving age - what you thoughts?

On red lights, I tend to hold the clutch down and sometimes press the gas to go forward a little and hold the clutch down again. I do that because I just want to get a head start because I think my car is really slow! Any advice?

I want to use a electronic 3 volt device from a 12 volt car battery so it will run much longer. I am going to install a air bubbler in my boat (the portable type with a few feet of hose and a air stone on the end to be placed in any minnow bucket and keep them alive). They sell a 12 volt aerator for $40 but I am trying to go with the cheaper $10 style so I can just pitch it when it no longer works and replace it without taking a $40 loss each time. Where do I buy one?

For anyone who has leased a car, could you tell me your experience?
I've decided that leasing is best for me right now (no down payment, nicer car/less maintenance, lower/set monthly payments) so I would like to know how others experiences have been so far.

TRUE OR FALSE

1) A flashing yellow light and a YIELD sign should be treated the same way.

2) Brown signs provide info to motorists on points of interest

3) A solid green traffic light assures you of the right-of-way and a clear path of travel.

thank you very much
