I have the limited version with a 2.7L V6. What are some ways to improve the horsepower besides a new airfilter?

Well....to give you a REAL answer.....

Try getting some sparkplugs which have more than a single electrode (the little arm that extends out over the post). Go to Auto Parts store to check them out.
They help to burn the gas more completely. I have used them in my 1991 beatup Geo Prizm, and they've made a BIG difference in performance, as much as can be done on a beatup Geo prizm!!

Changing air filter alone won't do anything, unless you're talking about changing the whole air flow system into something more high performance. But if you're merely talking lowest dollar and effort, changing to higher performance spark plug like I mentioned will help.

Changing to a fully synthetic oil also helps the car run easier. More expensive oil, but you might try it once to see how car runs.

Also, increase the air pressure in your tires. If you've got them at the average 32 ppi, then increase to 34-35. Adds just enough air--without any dangers--to help the vehicle roll a little bit easier.

One more thing......get a cheap bottle of STP gas treatment, go to Walmart or Kmart and get their house brand, usually a dollar or less. Do NOT add the whole bottle of 8 oz per gas tank. Just add few ounces, maybe up to 4 oz per tank. The idea isn't to really clean the engine. (It's kinda bit of trouble to just add few ounces, because you don't want to splash the stuff when you pull out the bottle from the gas pipe/cap opening. I find it's easier to stick a screwdriver to hold the little flap open, while I easily pour the few ounces down the pipe.)

The added gas treatment will help your engine run smoother because it burns the gas more effectively. I've noticed it many times on my bike and my older car, too. It's kinda like adding a squirt of lighter fluid on the charcoal to get it to flame up, but without the fireworks which the open flame shows. But main idea is the same. The charcoal will burn normally. But a quick splash of the lighter fluid helps it to burn better, admittedly not for long. But the few ounces in the gas tank DOES help the gas to burn better.

Remember, not the whole bottle. You should get at least 2 or 3 tankfuls of gas to a single 8 oz bottle. It's just to raise the burning coefficient of the gasoline a little bit higher so that it gives a better burn, thereby producing little bit more power. But it won't give you better gas mileage.

These are a few very simple items that might help your car run better. Good luck.

Trade it in for a Sante Fe with the 3.3L V6 or Veracruz with 3.8L V6. If you don't like those ideas, then go ahead and void your warranty while lowering the value of your Tucson by adding a full cat-back exhaust with headers, cold-air intake, performance spark plugs/wires, unorthodox underdrive pulley, NOS/Venom, Turbo-charger.
Like someone said if you want a sportscar SUV you'll have to buy an American brand or one of those really expensive European brands that start around $50K.
