I had the leather seat cover replaced in my 2007 Outback LL Bean after 5 months as the dye had really worn away and the surface cracked to the point that there was an actual hole in the seat. The new leather replacement (factory original, under warranty) is already showing similar wear after only THREE WEEKS. In this period, I have only put 400 (four hundred) miles on the car and I've only gotten in and out of the car about 60 (sixty) times. I am very careful about sitting down in the seat without sliding across it, especially after the first one developed a hole so quickly. I wear a smooth leather belt and I don't wear any crazy kind of abrasive or studded clothing. I have not even worn a jacket in the three weeks I've had my new seat. I don't understand why the seats have worn so quickly. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you have any suggestions for me?
(Yes, this is a duplicate of the same question I posted in the Subaru section, so you don't need to repeat...)

This is the first time in over 30 years of buying cars that I went with the leather. I always buy cloth, as it holds you in better. The only way to get the engine I wanted was in the LL Bean edition, which comes with leather. The salesman said, "Don't worry. They will wear like iron."
