There are two signal cancel springs that fit into the signal switch inside the column. There are also two bumps that protrude from the horn contact inside the column. When the signal is on, the spring for that side protrudes into the turning radius of the bumps which will bounce the switch back to rest position and cancel the light when the wheel is turned back. If you don't know how or don't have some special tools to get the air bag, steering wheel, and lock plate off the column, take it into a shop to get the springs replaced. They only cost about a buck each so it is dumb not to replace both. Good luck.

Most likely there is a spring broken on the turn signal switch. There are two springs, one to cancel left turns and one to cancel right turns. They like to break off. They are available separate from the rest of the switch, but I don't know the part number offhand. You need to remove the steering wheel and lock plate to access the switch. You need a couple special tools to do this. You will also need to disarm the airbag system.

the detent ramp is probably sheared off . It basically works like a seesaw. No ramp to contact tab on steering wheel shaft to put it back to level to take it back to neautral position
